Your knitting looks stretched. Using 5 instead of 4 needles will definitely ease the tension on your knitting and could help with the laddering. You might want to give that a shot. Reply
I have had some success diminishing laddering by having the new needle go underneath instead of above the just finished needle. Alternately, you could try a circular needle with the excess length pulled into a loop out the other side of the project… Reply
