Carrie Is Graduating

Carrie, our niece and my sister Jane’s daughter, is graduating from UCLA’s Medical School this summer. Rena & I are going to attend her graduation ceremony in Los Angeles in early June.

Pretty exciting to see the youngest Lee in our next generation coming out of school. Her two paintings are still on the wall of our Washington DC home. I like them very much and got it from my Mom and, of course, with her consent. She is a good painter also, I think.

Congratulations to Jim, Jane and Carrie!

Question for Donald and other resident bike experts.

Jeremy bought a bike on Craigslist bringing our total bicycle count to 4. The bike is a little strange. Somehow there is a super-low gear that seems really kludge-y. WTF did they do to the bike? (There is such beautiful light in the garage with the doors open, maybe I can move all our dinner parties to the garage so I can take beautiful pictures of everyone there…)

11 thousand people in the house.

We have eleven thousand people in the house (well not at this minute, everyone just left). Jeremy loves having eleven thousand people in the house. He loves the cooking, the talking, the chaos and the rush of activities. I like having a lot of people in the house, but I also need a little bit of “alone time” to keep my own sanity.

Do you remember the immense box?

We put it together this weekend. It’s really heavy and it’s very German and it’s the biggest thing we have in the house.

Behind the times.

Sometimes I feel a little behind the times. I don’t twitter, I’m on facebook, but I don’t really get it, also I don’t have a cell phone which can access the internet, it was only within the past year or so that I’ve learned to keep the cell phone charged and with me so I can answer phone calls. I’m turning into an old fogey.

My in-laws are in town this weekend and they are raving about google on their phone and possibly giving up their landline. I can not believe that I’ve become old fashioned because I’m only a blogger.

New au pair.

Full house this week. Jeremy’s at the airport picking up Eliana, our new au pair who is from Columbia (we are all excited to practice our Dora the Explorer Spanish, Vamanos!). Yvonne’s last day of work is Thursday, but her mom and sister are coming to spend a whirlwind two weeks vacationing and sightseeing in the US with our house as their home base. Jeremy’s parents are also coming this weekend. A total of ten people in the house. We are careening into summer…

We are also trying to get a little more exercise into our routine. Jeremy’s trying to shove a morning run into the schedule.
