Birthday party!

In honor of the actual day of Edda’s birthday, we had a small family celebration. Edda’s birthday is always bittersweet and a little difficult – the ritual of balloons, cake and gifts is really just something I do for me because I don’t think Edda knows this is a day different from all the other days.

We presented Edda with the cake and she promptly slap-smacked the candles (thank goodness they weren’t lit yet).

We had some helium from the balloons and all of us inhaled and sang Edda “Happy Birthday” in chipmunk voices which amused all of us :)!

Last Sunday, we celebrated S’s 7th birthday. S was born a week before Edda, so she is my benchmark or milestone marker for Edda to keep Edda (and me) up to speed in the world of 7 year old girls. S got her ears pierced in honor of turning 7, so it occurs to me that maybe Edda would want her own ears pierced. Hmmm. Something to consider.

Relax and rejuvenvate weekend.

It is such a beautiful weekend, I am a little embarrassed to admit that we are just staying in the house and relaxing all weekend. No play dates, no extra activities, no nothing. Vince is doing a Rugrats marathon, I’m catching up on bills/paperwork/taxes and Grey’s Anatomy. Edda is still in her pajamas. We are eating on the couch and licking the artificial butter off of the packaging of microwave popcorn. It’s awesome.
