Vince had a violin competition this past weekend. He is such a funny kid – we’ve been practicing for at least 6 weeks on this piece and it isn’t until like 2 hours before we leave for the competition that he kind of realizes what he is about to do. Suddenly he asks – are there judges? how many other kids will be there? you mean they are going to rank us?. If I were him, and I’m clearly not him, I would have been freaking out for weeks before the competition and trying in vain to practice super hard. Vince, not so much. It’s OK – probably healthier for one’s psyche to be freaked out for a shorter amount of time?
Month: March 2013
Basketball season is over!
The Pink Panthers might have been the worst team in the league – but we had one amazing win (11-10 in overtime) which will live in our memories forever and ever. Last night we hosted the 12 boys in the house for pizza/Kool-aid/chips and ice cream sandwiches. It was a little loud. We kind of had to strap Edda in a bar stool so she wouldn’t get run over by the trampling of the boys.
Snowquester.
So the sequester is in effect. I feel very lucky in that I haven’t heard a word from management about the patent office going on furlough. I heard from my union that they would get rid of overtime and then halt new hires before furloughing employees. So for me, the sequester is pretty quietly felt, although it is not the same case for other federal employees in the area.
We are all eagerly awaiting the snowstorm that is suppose to hit tonight. Nicknamed the snowquester – we are hoping to get at least 6″. We haven’t had any snow really this season.
Vince missed a practically a whole week of school last week having this cough and now I have it. Ugh.
