I am lucky that my job is flexible enough to allow me to basically determine my own hours and it’s coming in awfully handy right now. I know that lots of people work different shifts so that they don’t have to pay for childcare – but I have to say, after 2 weeks of this and looking at 2 more weeks, I’m running on fumes.
This no childcare thing, plus the fact that I moved offices and switched computers which has led to one software nightmare after another (hours and hours of walking back and forth between two computers – outside in the snow, uphill both ways, calling the help desk and waiting and waiting and losing hours of work into the ether of cyberspace), plus the fact that I had my first attorney interview this week to discuss the “merits of my arguments”, plus the fact that I’m getting up at 4 am, plus various other crazy things in the background behind the blog, has led to some emotional moments where I just want to sit in my chair and cry.
Nothing terrible has happened, it’s just that everything just seems little overwhelming to me (including the huge pile of laundry that needs to be done).
You know sometimes sitting in a chair and crying isn’t a bad thing. I hope the next two weeks fly by and things get a little easier once the child care issues are taken care of. Hugs from Ohio until then.
You know what I say: STAY IN
THE PRESENT. IF the laundry
doesnt get done ‘on time’ then
either you will be buying new
underwear, hoho, or having a very
sexy week………..however,
i agree with Samantha, a good
cry in a chair, along with
a bowl of popcorn (or ice cream)
can really put things in perspective:
things will get worse before
they get better (just kidding).
And of course, now tha tyou’ve
dealt with MAJOR problems, it’s
great to have some time to
sweat the crap of everyday life…..easy for me to say,
of course–but don’t forget
to look at all the hoops
and hurdles you’ve successfully
jumped over. AND then weep.
take some day off and get ressted and safe energy. Two weeks be fast. Take care.
in my world house cleaners are easier to hire than childcare workers…Hang in there. and remember, 13 days until chicago!!!
I wish I knew what to say to make you feel better. It really is hard to be so far away and not be able to help. A wash and fold service sounds like an expense but a necessary one for the next two weeks. Do whatever it takes to make your life a bit more manageable. Pay to have your laundry done, cry, eat chocolate ice cream from the carton. Whatever it takes. All of us are rallying around you so hang in there and even though you are alone you really are not because your virtual fan club is pulling for you. You can get through this Doris.
