Things always happen, and I end up blogging about them like a week later.

Anyways, Ted came by SF 2 weekends ago. We had a pretty good time. It’s usual for the course. Do whatever. No planning. He go it on Thursday night. I took off on Friday, and we walked from my place all the way to Sausalito – about 7-8 miles. It was a beautiful day. Of course, all the beaches were closed due to the oil spill.

Saturday morning, we went over to the farmer’s market at the Ferry Building. It’s pretty crazy there – and it’s not really all that cheap like you’d expect a farmer’s market to be. Still pretty good fruits. Later that night, we met up with Frank and JT and went off to the Boom Boom Room to listen to some funk band. That was fun. It was good to see Frank up in the city.

Sunday was just a lazy day. We made our way down to Palo Alto to hang out with Arif and some folks. One of Ted’s friends was setting him up with someone. 🙂 laff.

And Monday was off to Paris.

The weekend comes to and end.

I need a weekend to recover from this weekend.

We went to a Thanksgiving Day Parade in Silver Spring. One of Vince and Edda’s cousins was marching with her ballet school – she was dressed as a mouse from the Nutcracker which freaked Vince out (it is most certainly a scary mouse – not a cute fuzzy mouse).

I was not optimistic about this parade. Jeremy had to stay home to work on some interview stuff and it was up to me to round up the kids and get them out of the house for an adventure. I would have to drive straight to a crowded place I am unfamiliar with and find parking and have the kids sit still in the cold waiting for our mousy friend. Vince did not want to go. Edda was very happy to stay home watching TV. I was nervous.

But, Edda enjoyed the parade, did not have to whip out the DVD player, although we did go through 2 oranges, a banana and 57 mini-marshmallows.

Vince found out the whole point of a parade is to collect stickers and grab candy that was being thrown on the ground by every passing person. Apparently, he is a Hillary supporter.

Juggling.

This week, Jeremy’s been to a few evening seminars in the city. It seems like I haven’t seen him in 2 days. Last night, we met at a Metro station closer to his destination and traded the kids and cars. He drives the kids into town and then right away I make a U-turn and I drive them out again. The children do not like this – it is a long trip to nowhere. Late, after the seminar is over, he takes the train out to the ‘burbs and drives my car home.

He comes into the bedroom at 10:00pm. The lights are still on, I am almost asleep.

“So how were the kids tonight?”

“Edda fell asleep on the way home. She woke up as I carried her into the house.”

“hmmm.”

“I was going to try and coax her back to sleep, but I couldn’t because I was starving. Because I’m on this diet.”

“You’re on a diet?”

“Well, kind of. It’s the ‘don’t eat 14 pieces of Halloween candy a day while you are at work sitting on your butt’ diet.”

“Ah, right.”

Yea!

Just arrived in Paris. I spend 56E on the taxi ride in. I’m spending 27E on this internet connection. The metro is striking tomorrow so nobody will be able to go anywhere. And I find it quaint that blogger knows I’m in France so the toolbar reads “Creer un blog”. Laff.

Shiver me timbers.

Did I mention that Jeremy is a fabulous husband? Last week, he worked full time on resolving this child care issue – so a million phone calls, a million visits and picking folks up from the Metro stop and emails and around and around and around. I just show up to the interview appointments and make small talk. I can’t keep track of the details, who’s schedule is where, who needs mornings off, who can drive, who wants full time only, the list is endless. I just wake up every morning at 5 and leave — twelve and a half hours later I come home and dinner is on the table and homework is done. Thanks sweets!
