Bike.

Untitled

Jeremy’s commuter bike needs a tune up, he’s a very consistent biker to the Metro and he was a little reluctant to give it up to the shop for a few weeks as it is bike to work month and everyone is keeping a tally at work about self-propelled efforts of getting to work.  It’s also helpful that everyday he bikes to work, he saves $5 on parking.  The bike has internal hub which is a little unusual, so we had to drive it out to Silver Spring to find someone who had all the right lube/tools etc.

I admired this yellow bike.  Jeremy is trying to encourage me to bike more places.  I don’t mainly because I’m lazy.

Jeremy is dreaming about his next bike.  Saving his pennies from birthday presents/Christmas presents and his weekly fun fund allowance.

Jeremy spent today putting together the Murphy bed – it’s fully installed, we are ready for you!  Come one, come all, we have a true guest room now.

Vince, Edda and I went to Target today to find a birthday card for Bette.  I asked Vince to find the best fart/butt card he could.  We got a pretty good one.

Eric made a wonderful seafood stew with lobster…  mmmmm…..

Happy birthday Bette!

Jeremy took me out on a date today.  We first went to the Chinese noodle place.  Then we went grocery shopping at the new Twinbrook Safeway.  Jeremy is making “hot dish” for dinner sometime this week – this involves a lot of tater tots.

Then we spent some time in the afternoon moving furniture around.  The huge Murphy bed made it into the au pair room.

The couch that used to be in our bedroom made it through Vince’s room, through the Jack-n-Jill bathroom and out, finally, into Edda’s room.  Lucky for our guest, they no longer have to sleep in Edda’s room while Edda sleeps in our closet, but more importantly, they don’t have to share a bathroom with Vince.  The cleanliness can be a little unpredictable in there.

Sunny!

It’s Friday night and Vince is out watching Captain America.  Yesterday, only me, Vince and Edda had dinner and we tried Marie Callender’s Chicken Pot Pie.  We were underwhelmed.  I remember these being so good when I was a kid, but I think we aren’t going to get them anymore.  We might have to try Stouffer’s French Bread Pizza next week.  Though Vince suggested that we have Hot Pocket night.  Mmmmmm, the ham and cheese ones are pretty good.  Without Jeremy at dinner, my desire to make something plummets.  Tonight Jeremy was at dinner and I made a delicious pork shoulder in adobo sauce.

Today, the sun came out after two weeks of rain.  This is going to be a banner year for my peonies!  Excited!

I spent some time today at Nordstrom Rack trying to find shoes for Edda’s new ankle foot brace.  It’s not as easy as it looks.

I think this is as good as it gets.

Wed.

OK, SNL made fun of my haircut.  At least I don’t wear the mom shorts.

Edda is finally really, really well.  She laughed and laughed while I gave her a shower, lots of smiles.  She’s eating well and having a good time.

Speaking of showers, we had the durable medical equipment guys come in today and measure for a bath chair.  I’m hoping insurance will pay for this beauty…

Edda did go back to school today, but she still seemed a bit wobbly. Because I had finals and wouldn’t be able to pick Edda up if she couldn’t last the day, Jeremy worked from home.  The change of the au pair room into his study is complete (almost).  It has even a Maxi-resting chair in there and last night, when Jeremy couldn’t sleep because his mind was swirling with work crap, he started work at 3:30 am.  Crazy.  My husband loves to think about his work during non-work hours.

Maxi has a whole new life now, she sleeps with Vince at night and not us anymore and she hangs out in the room she’s never been allowed in her whole life.  I just hope she’s not peeing everywhere.

School has been so relaxed for me this term, many weeks I barely knew I was in school.  I will say the first two years were stressful for me (this is my third year out of four), I was carrying too many classes and the classes were way more work than I wanted them to be, I was blindsided.  And then I volunteered to do too much tutoring/teaching.  Anyways – this term, I didn’t make any close friends, I didn’t do any extra work, I didn’t work weekends, I studied so little for the exams, I put what I considered the minimum amount of work for projects and I just skated through this semester.  I’m not sure this was the best tactic, but it’s what I did.

Tonight, Jeremy took me on a date to help Rockville develop a master plan for 2040.

Untitled

We ended up in the traffic and transportation break out session – it’s a little weird to be talking about buses or whatnot when we all know that we are all going to just call up self-driving cars from our phones by 2040.

Recovery Monday.

Edda stayed home today – though Jeremy took her to get her new ankle-foot-orthotics in the early morning.  They don’t look super comfortable to me and now we need to find a pair of shoes that these can slip into.  I’m afraid the shoes that we’ll be able to find won’t be very attractive.

Untitled

I want them to fit into shoes like these!  These are my Mother’s Day gift.  They glow in the dark too.

Boo ya – this flu/cold/combo is never ending.
