So this is my Halloween theme: a bunch of skeletons chased by a flock of flamingos – some of witch are spooky. This is it for this year, but I dream bigger for next year. Hahaha. I did covet the 12 foot skeleton, but there are at least 3 within a block of me, so I thought it was played out – we have reached saturation point in the neighborhood on humongous skeletons. And there is lots of halloween flamingo themed plastic crap to buy as I cover my lawn in flamingos as the years go by. We’ll see how long I can tolerate storing 10,o00 plastic flamingos in my garage.

As Halloween turns towards the end of the year, I always get a tightening-up feeling. No matter what is going on, I feel like people are asking too much from me, that all the things are more obligation than relaxation. I mean, hanging out with people takes effort and coordination. I also really hate the consumerism of Christmas, which I’m working through. I want to lean into gratitude and celebration and cuddling as we go towards Christmas, it’s all going to be OK. It means I have a full life for which I am grateful, there were many years, when my life was smaller, I didn’t feel like the end of the year had any significance at all which wasn’t optimal either.
Someone is happy Jeremy is home (me too).
