Jeremy is coming home today from Illinois! Hooray! Remember we were going to split our marriage for a year? He’d spend 6 months in Illinois and I’d spend 6 months in NYC, the city that never sleeps. I was excited – I looked at rooms to rent in NYC and dreamed where I’d like to have the room and how much exactly would I want to spend. And then I was like – that room is very, very small. Where would I put my three monitor work computer? And I would be working three feet from my bed and kitchen. And then I dreamt again of cheap eats, off-off Broadway productions, comedy clubs and freedom from having a car and some freedom from home responsibilities. And then Jeremy mentioned – so…I wouldn’t travel for work for six months while you were in NYC. And I said – we’ll figure it out, I can come back for some travel.
And then, you know, I actually like my husband, so what exactly would I be doing in NYC? Emoji shrug person. I probably would get tired of eating out, going to museums and having no friends. We’ll see what happens.
It’s interesting, one might think I’m jealous of true empty nesters and sometimes I am – seeing their travel posts on insta or spontaneous concert goings and if we were true empty nesters, we could go to Illinois together for 6 months and NYC for 6 months (Jeremy would not tolerate this) paired together anytime we wanted to. But mostly I am grateful for what I have, and that I have good reason to stay at home and be at home with the one I love the most. Just doing…nothing mostly.
