Today we went kayaking on MacRitchie Resevoir. It was our lucky day – today just happened to be the only day of the year where the rowing was free, free, free! We spent only 15 minutes rowing before we decided that we’d had enough and pulled back into dock.

Excited about a Date.

Well, it seems i’ve got a date next week that I’m fairly excited about. This is the friend of Larry’s that I met. Her name’s Karen, which is funny in a way, since one of my ex’s is named Karen. But she’s pretty active. She’s training up for a half marathon, also plays a lot of volleyball, and used to play ultimate and tennis. So that’s awesome. She works at Google, went to Stanford and Wharton.

Man. I do like the power women. 🙂

Computer free.

My computer is still broken; no word yet from the HP guys when it will be fixed. I have been using Jeremy’s work computer at night, I feel weird doing much blogging on his computer. I quite enjoy my respite from so much computer time – I really am addicted to the internet.

On another technology front, I think I can finally say that I’m a competent cell phone user. I’ve always been an awkward phone user. I like putting off making calls. I always hope that someone else answers the phone when it rings. I have owned at least 4 cell phones in my life, but I’ve always forgotten to charge them and hence, I very rarely used them.

Now I have a few friends I can SMS, I have appointments to make/keep, I’m always out of the house. I actually keep my phone in my front pocket. Jeremy was so impressed when he hung out with me on Friday – I was calling and SMSing all day. It’s a big thing for me, making calls and plans with other people, I haven’t done it for many, many years. I’ve relied on Jeremy to call for the last 10 years and in college, I just hung out – no elaborate plan making. I guess it’s becuase I don’t know if folks really want to hang out with me – you know, maybe they are busy with their other, more interesting friends. I don’t like asking people to hang out, but I love the actual hanging out – I love being busy and having lots of plans with other people.

About Last Night…

It was a party night.

Brian, a mechanic that worked at the shop, had his last day yesterday, so a bunch of us from the shop did a rare thing and actually hung out together outside of the shop. We went to a Japanese restaurant to eat. It’s funny cause some of the younger folks were freaked out by sushi and couldn’t use chopsticks. I had fun freaking them out a bit. 🙂 Otherwise it was really nice hanging out with them. It’s really a shame that we don’t hang out more often in non biking settings.

Afterwards, went to Lynn’s, where I gave her the ceramic knife. We’ll see if she likes it. I think she just got her knives sharpened, so maybe it’ll just be a fancy plya knife now. oh well. We were celebrating the pending brith of P’ng and Judy’s baby in October and we played a lot of silly baby games like – who’s the fastest drinking from a baby bottle and having to do a blind taste test of chocolate bars melted into a diaper. Oh boy. Life is gonna change when your friends have kids. Ha

Mom Is Crazy About Music

Before Mom has her ipod, she was already crazy about music. With ipod, she has been spending a lot of time with music – Chineses, Oldies in 60s/70s, Opera, Presley’s, etc. In short, she is submerged herself with anything music. And evidently, she is enjoying. That is good – our apartment and car is full of sounds of music all the time. And according to her, with ipod earphones on all the time, she does not have to listen my nagging 🙂

Well, after 40 years of knowing her, here comes the “music” girl. But, I am still enjoying doing nothing and sleeping 🙂 – Mom says that I am pretty lazy with zzz …
