San Luis Obispo, CA

Finally, Rena and I are at Qualify Inn Suites of San Luis Obispo, CA. It is about 3 hours drive from San Jose.

Yesterday, we had dinner with Donald as well as his friends (8 of them). We dined at Maggiano’s. It was fun and we enjoyed it very much. Donald’s friends all said he looks like Mom.

Tomorrow, with help of an old colleague working at Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Station here, we are going to look for a more permanent place to stay. For our monthly trip home, we probably will either fly out from here or San Jose International to Portland, OR.

What a perfectly beautiful Saturday! All the windows in the house are open and everyone is enjoying being inside and outside at the same time. We’ve met neighbors who we haven’t seen in months – all outside enjoying the weather.

Vince set up the water games. It’s still a little cold for this, but 3 other sets of kids joined in when they saw the plume of water in our front yard.

I spent a lot of the day inside tackling Mount Paperwork (mainly filing medical insurance claims), but a lot of it is done now and I’m enjoying the last bit of the day!

Heading for San Luis Obispo, California

Yesterday, we picked a twin size mattress to fit our bunk bed from Fred Myer (a local chain story). It was the last major piece of furniture in the house besides a digital TV set. I also cut out a hole for an extra bedroom sink to be installed later in the hall way bath room. Mom was the design engineer who also marked the hole to be cut. I did the cutting with a drill and jack saw.

Also, Mom would like to reel in her garden hose in the backyard in a home-designed-&-made reel in stead of ready-designed-&-made one. She said a ready-made one in the hardware store is too expensive for her purpose. I see what I can do today.

Every major thing in our three bedrooms, loft, study, living room, family room, dining room, kitchen, laundry room and garage was put in place after three weeks of continuously shopping, installing and decorating. For that, I have put so many screws on. My hands and shoulders are aching a lot. Glad there is no more of that. And we did almost all the shopping across the river with smiles on Mom’s face because there was no sales tax there. Of course, I bought tools too!

In addition, there were a lot dinners with friends here together. Tomorrow noon time, it is our turn. We will take our friends to a Japanese style seafood buffet restaurant before leaving for Diablo Canyon Nuclear Station around San Luis Obispo. It should be fun!

On our way, we will stop over in San Francisco to see Donald. It should be fun too! We will start working there next Monday. We have already had so many forms to fill out to get our access to the Station 🙂

Back to regular programming.

I went back to work today! Something about being on the regular schedule just makes me feel good. My co-worker kicked me in the rear end and got me to go to a noontime yoga class where I managed to do a lot of downward dog poses.

Jeremy’s a little sick (sore throat – but not strep (remember when we were kids and they swabbed your throat and then put it on a plate of agar and you had to wait overnight for the buggers to grow? – I was so surprised to learn of the rapid strep test last year)), it’s been a sickly winter – no one got incredibly ill (no emergency trips anywhere) but it seemed like one of us was always a little snotty or achy or grumpy or just no fun to be with.

Edda and Vince had their last day of spring break today – they were both a little grumpy and off today. Jeremy saw on the way home today a gaggle of kids who had gone to the White House Easter Egg Roll. What fun!

We found the golden egg today!

Happy easter.

There was a lot of candy. Maybe too much candy. Apparently there was one golden egg. It was not found. It’s still in the backyard, probably the raccoons are having it as an Easter snack right now…

Vince was the last one out looking for the famous golden egg.

Did Edda like going Easter egg hunting? Not so much. Maybe next year (but, shhh… next year we are doing a seder instead of Easter)..

Good friday.

Edda is now happy watching Madagascar – one of her favorite videos. She seems back to her old self and we are under orders not to let her drink anything through a straw. I asked Jeremy what that was all about and he said that maybe the suction or the poking would dislodge something or other and then I asked well about the fact that she shoves her whole hand in her mouth all the time?!? He looked at me and shrugged.

OK, while Edda and Jeremy were at the hospital having dental surgery, Vince and I were suppose to do something fun and exciting. I thought maybe going to see Monsters vs Aliens in 3D would be something fun and exciting, or going swimming or going to the library or going on a bike ride. We did nothing of the sort – we basically stayed inside. Well we did make it out for 15 minutes on our neighbor’s swing.
