Cindy came over today and Jeremy took 1/2 day off and while Vince slept, we all hung around and talked about work. It was so nice to see her and have some quiet time to talk to her and get her take on being an expat. We got so much in the mail today. My recorder came back recorked, we got a weird package from Ruth, we got Cooking Light and the New Yorker. No bills! Yah!

Had a nice holiday potluck, invited about 30 people and 3 groups of people came. About the size of potluck that I had wanted. Also, Jeremy’s parents and Dad was there too. A nice way to end the weekend.
Wed night, tutoring happened, Bob had gone into New York to go to the Bard Festival Gala. It was the first day that Vince really requested items that were not in his view, like an egg at 2 in the afternoon and then a bath at 4. We both were very pleased with our ablilty to communicate with each other. Today we went to the playgroup and I was unusually social and introduced myself to at least 4 other moms. Then I came home, Dad was already here and we spent a nice afternoon together. In the evening, we went to the Eveready Diner.
Last night we had Jeremy’s wonderful chili. Mmmmmm…. Yummy. Yesterday was so warm and inviting, today is rainy and dreary. Vince is sleeping, the baby is apparently not kicking either. Ugh.
Oh the 300 minute movie was the best! Pride and Prejudice was wonderful! I gave Jeremy a haircut while Vince was asleep and we had a blast. On Saturday, I went to recorder class and had a wonderful time. On Sunday, we went to hear the Colorado Quartet play in Olin and we had drinks at Joan’s wonderful modern house and had a pizza dinner.
We are trying to watch a 300 minute movie this week. Ha!
We went to the Volvo dealership for the 15K tune-up. Took 4 hours instead of 2, but we had a fun time meeting other moms and other kids. They did break the indicator on my gear shifter though. Ugh! Vince konked out on the ride home and then woke up as soon as we got home, so we got into an argument about whether he should continue his nap. But he won and we went to the playground and to CVS. Jeremy made a delicious calzone for dinner and Vince fell asleep at 7:30 on our evening walk.
Our first day back in our humble house. It is wet, wet, wet outside. Vince and I did a massive shopping trip to replenish our refrigerator. He crashed at 10:30 am today. I think with the time change and the excitment of the past week, he just really needed to take a morning nap today.
Thursday, we spent the afternoon walking around old Montreal and went into the Latin Quarter. Ate dinner at a spaghetti factory-type place where they give you bibs. Friday, we met Sara, Marka’s friend, a prof at McGill. Had a fun time hanging out with her kids. Drove to Burlington where we had sandwiches and Ben and Jerry’s for dinner. Saturday, we participated in Burlington’s halloween parade and went to see a granite quarry and the Ben and Jerry’s factory tour. Today we saw Amy from MIT and her kids and went to the Martin’s to pick up Ruby and spend the afternoon with them! A great trip. And great to be home!
Just cold today in Montreal. Vince and I went up Mont-Royal. He took off his shoes and mittens every chance he got. Had lunch from this takeout salad place and spent the rest of the day napping and watching TV. Jeremy disccovered that being a little tipsy helps with the networking at the conference. Ha!
